This house was created by Frank Gehry for him and his family in 1978. He changed an existing house and turned it into something truly unique. The neighbors may not have been thrilled with what the home became but it looks like something really fun to see in person.

Throughout the 60s, the estate was no longer being used and became a victim of vandalism. After lead was stolen from the roof, the property was left to rot. Dunalastair House has a long and fascinating history that dates back centuries, which even saw the head of Tennent's own it, but today it is nothing but an unsettling sight. I have been advised by the estate to highlight that vehicular access from the B846 road is not permitted as the track is privately owned. Macdonald knocked down the house that stood on the site at the time, and built his own – the remains of which stand today. Nestled 18 miles west of the town of Pitlochry are the remains of a structure resembling a large mansion or castle. While its been abandoned, over the years it has been a favourite spot amongst explorers and adventurers. The castle is known for its picturesque setting in the Scottish Highlands, and its historical connection to important Scottish historical figures and events. Bridge Cottage housed the hydro-electric turbine which ran the electricity in old Dunalastair House.
Known as the great poet chieftain, his life was a remarkable blend of artistry and warrior spirit. A staunch supporter of the Jacobite cause, Alexander’s deep involvement in the rebellions added a dramatic chapter to the castle’s history. The present owner, Ian Cameron de Sales La Terrière lives with his wife, Rose, on the estate.
A fire destroyed most of the house in 1963 and was rebuilt by Neutra’s son with the Dad’s oversight. The head of the brewing company only owned the estate for nine years until he died aged 27 in 1890. Just a year later, the house and the estate were sold to the Chairman of the Caledonian Railway Company, James Clark Bunten—the great-grandfather of the present owner.
